You could surf the web on an unprotected PC, but that is highly unadvisable. By doing so, you are exposing your computer and your data to viruses, adware, spyware, and other sorts of malware and nasty threats. To keep your system safe and protected, you need a security solution, something like the Cerver Free Antivirus application, for example. This application will protect your PC from a variety of existing threats, as well as emerging threats.

To get started with Cerber Antivirus, you must download a 17.3Mb archive, extract the executable inside, run it, and then go through the steps a setup wizard presents to you. The antivirus application can be installed on top of a Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7-powered PC.

After you’re done with the installation, you will be asked to take the time and complete the Cerber Antivirus activation. After you’re done activating and registering the product, which is a simple process, you will be informed that you can use Cerber Antivirus for free for 30 days. This is inaccurate – you can use it for free for 365 days.

The dark Cerber Antivirus interface is quite easy to get accustomed to. A banner in the top left hand corner presents your system’s status – it turns green when it’s secure, red when it’s in danger. Underneath, there are buttons for launching a quick, full, or custom scan and for scheduling scans. To the right, there’s a section that displays the worldwide threat activity level, CPU load, and memory usage.

By default, Cerber Antivirus starts when your computer boots up and protects it from viruses, spyware, adware, and other forms of malware. Also by default, it automatically updates its signature database so that it can uncover the latest threats and it performs scans in the background while the computer is idle. You can also manually trigger a scan – click Quick Scan to check the system volume and operating memory, Full System Scan to perform an in-depth scan, Custom Scan to check a specific drive or folder, or right click a folder/file and select Scan with CerberAV to initiate a scan. Scans can also be scheduled to take place automatically.

On top of antivirus protection, Cerber Antivirus can also securely delete files and it can encrypt/decrypt data.

Cerber Antivirus can prove to be very useful in keeping your PC virus-free. It is a security solution that will protect against viruses and other threats, securely delete files, and encrypt your data.

Pros

English and Russian are supported. Cerber Antivirus comes with a dark, easy to use interface. Schedule scans to take place automatically or run on-demand scans (Full, Quick, or Custom scan). Cerber Antivirus integrates with the right click context menu – right click a file/folder to scan it, securely erase it, or encrypt it. Cerber Antivirus is free to use for 365 days.

Cons

Some elements did not display correctly on the interface. The registration says you can use Cerber Antivirus for free for 30 days, but in fact you can use it for free for 365 days.
